Desmond Lamptey

I am a financial economist with a master’s degree in financial economics. My professional experience spans finance, analysis, project and business management, and consulting.

That experience informs an interest in how economic decisions take effect. A policy announcement, a financing decision or a public investment commitment becomes meaningful through implementation, incentives and the response of people and firms.

My research interests centre on financial economics, macroeconomic policy transmission, public investment, financial markets and enterprise development. I approach these subjects through the relationship between productive investment, fiscal and monetary policy, and economic growth.

How I approach a question

I begin by defining the decision and the outcome under examination. The next step is to identify the evidence, explain the method and consider alternative explanations before drawing a conclusion.

My initial editorial focus is Ghana. International experience and evidence can offer context, while local institutions, data definitions and implementation conditions deserve their own attention.

I am the founder of InsightVector Consulting. This commercial leadership experience forms part of my professional background. Analysis on this website is presented in an independent capacity, with relevant commercial interests to be disclosed in individual publications.
